Jose Alvaro Osorio Balvin, otherwise known as J Balvin began singing in 2007. It wasn’t until 2012 that he released some of his earlier in his homeland of Columbia. Most believe that his career didn’t fully take off till he released “Yo Te Lo Dije” in the U.S. A notable accomplishment is his music video, “La Familia B Sides” has been viewed over 600 million times. Just last year, J Balvin began the #LatinosSomosUnidos. Created for the purpose of creating awareness of the problems taking place on the Venezuelan-Colombian border. In January he premiered his new single “Ginza.” The music video of it gained 2 million hits in the first day.
Today he is famous for reggaeton, but in his beginnings he performed covers of Metallica and Nirvana. He has also shared with the world that in his earlier years he had a weight problem, but now shows off his impressive physique that he has covered in 30 tattoos. First arriving in the U.S. at 17, he lived in Oklahoma. There the woman he lived with was so fond of him that she stole his passport, so he would stay with her forever. Soon after he relocated to New York, where he discovered and fell in love with reggaeton.
